It all started when Ryan Puno decided to put up a Funny or Die/Saturday Night Live type thing, but with more Pinoy culture and more people that looked like him. He wrangled up the hottest young comedy writers/performers in town and the rest, as they say, is the start of a beautiful online comedy channel.
After writing/directing/producing a variety of online hits, the team started dipping their toes in the commercial production waters. Business was good! Brands were loving what they were dishing out and fellow production companies started hiring them for their acting services. At the same time, the team began producing one-of-a-kind comedy events that were consistently sold out.
The team was on top of the world! Then out of nowhere, COVID smacked them in the face. SOLID OK shut down temporarily as the team reflected on what to do next. To maintain their sanity and connect with people again, they produced online comedy shows with their comedian besties.
The team started the year by celebrating their most viral video to date. It was just the boost they needed to get back in the comedy production game. From there, the branded projects started trickling in again and the team felt their mojo coming back. That’s when opportunities to pitch TV shows and movies came their way—exactly what SOLID OK was looking to expand into.
As the world slowly opened up again, SOLID OK kicked things off with their biggest branded content project yet—an 8-episode comedy series featuring some of the funniest performers in town. Deep down, though, they knew something was missing. The team had stopped producing the dumb sketches that got them noticed in the first place. It was time to fix that.
After a lot of tinkering and re-tinkering, the new and improved SOLID OK is finally here. Thanks in large part to their new hires, they’re still making funny sketches, events, and ads. But on top of that, they also made it to Netflix, producing and directing Red Ollero’s stand-up comedy special, “Mabuhay is a Lie.”
With the Netflix response and momentum giving them life, the team started creating weekly sketches again and introduced a new piece of fun content into the mix—Bobo Debates, a verbal joust podcast featuring smart takes on bobo topics. Even better, the ad projects kept rolling in!
